T SHIRT is an EXPRESSION!

" Who the hell will define T shirt??" is what bumped into my mind when I strong headedly decided to restart the blog. To be true I never left it, but it was a mishappening of life that took me away from my love of Tees, temporarily. I am back, I am back, for the crazy love of lovely tees I am back.... yo yo yo ;)

T Shirts? What are these? I am myself struggling to define it. How the hell can I start a $*#^%#$ blog without having the basic definition ...Ohhh Lord help. I googled & got these usatisfying, constipating results:

Website 1: A T-shirt (or tee shirt) is a shirt with short or long sleeves, a round neck, put on over the head, without pockets. It was originally used as undershirt. This is still done, but it is also often worn as the only clothing on the upper part of the body (except that women often wear a bra under it).
Website 2: A short-sleeved, collarless undershirt
Website 3: A lightweight, usually knitted, pullover shirt, close-fitting and with a round neckline and short sleeves, worn as an undershirt or outer garment
and so on.....

Anyways, no website, no dictionary & no search engine could satisfy me with their worn out, old fashioned, incomplete definition. What they say is so bloody indigestable that it gives me severe constipation & let's not get into details of constipation n stuff.
For me, 'A T shirt is a simple 'T' shaped peice of cloth, pretty easy to wear & carry. It is an upper wear that gives a sense of freedom. T shirt is an expression, any dam expression.'

Benneton.....

I should have been writing about something else, probably about polo piques or US Polo's core Tees... that's what i was thinking when I ended my last post. But something stronger, something better pulled me to write about Benneton, UCB.

UCB, as always is again up with an exciting collection of Tees, hats off to their design team for coming up with nice innovations, season after season. The Autum Winter 2010-11 collection was out in stores 2 weeks back. Single jerseys, Polo Piques & few flat knits are awesome but come at a price which is little unlike Benneton.
In Tee market Polos are a rage these days, no brand is keeping Polos away from there range. Unlike other brands instead of doing Polos in Pique fabric, Benneton has concentrated on doing Polos in Jersey fabric, giving softer, better fitted Tees with a style which Polos have always offered. Benneton Polos start from slightly above Rs. 1000/- & chest printed Crew Neck Tees (round necks) from Rs. 899/-, thats an increase of about 25-35% viz a viz pricing followed in last season.

Benneton Chest print Tees are printed with Khadi, foil, Plastisol & pigment prints. Prints are comparitively bigger & have more coverage, looks like an inspiration taken from other international brands. Full chest prints are in for the season.
Though the store has maximum pcs with Black, Royal Blue & Purple shades but Green has been a colour thats pulling me since sometime. The chest printed Tee I reviewed is a dark green Tee, with bold off white & tonal green color Khadi print. Addition of Foil printing gives considerable lift to otherwise normal print. Print nicely sustained 2 washes. Fit is as nice as Benneton has always given. I found nothing wrong with the Tee but it's 'Price', Rs. 899/- for a regular Chest Printed Tee is not very benneton. I must say, wrong pricing for otherwise really good product. It is clearly 'OVER PRICED'. People will take time to associate such pricing with Benneton. Are they trying to move to new segment??

Overall Quality: 9/10
Fabric: 8/10
Print: 9/10
Look: 8/10
Price: 3/10
Good but Avoidable tee, till they come up with 50% discount offer. :)
Happy Teeing :)

Weekend Teeing

Good Morning India :)

Its a weekend...Wish you all a freaky, crazy, lovely weekend!

For Tee freaks, I'll suggest to browse through Private Labels of fashion retailers like Lifestyle, Westside, pantaloon, Shoppers Stops. These niche brands are coming up with lovely product innovations at best prices. The prints & fabric qualities they are playing with is exactly what was missing from the scene 2 years back. From peach finishes to the bright colour tones, from 160 GSM to poly blended stripers, amazingly wide variety is stacked with them . I am sure you gonna love shopping these Value for money tees...

For Mumbaites, I'll advise to browse the bandra roadside sellers (Linking Road/ Hill Road)...there's no one who picks up & copies styles better than these roadside vendors. Icing on the cake is the prices at which they come at. You can bag a superb Tee from them at as low as Rs. 150 & onwards..

Another brand you must check out is 'U.S. Polo'. It is just out of the reach of mid level segment. Price for polos start from around Rs. 900/-, for Single jersey Crew Necks it starts from around Rs. 600/-. I term it as little costly but the styles, colours & the embroidery is something Indian market has never seen. There core Polo Piques are of perfect weight (GSM), with awesomely contrasted 3D embroideries. It's a must buy for all Tee Crazy junta.

Stay away from ZARA at Palladium on weekends, you'll not get to see the real stuff...Zara store at Palladium, Mumbai gets freakily crowded on weekends... Stay away.

Cheers...Good Times & happy Shopping...Happy Teeing!!

Nike Tee: August, 2010, Mumbai

I am not here to bad word about tees... I intend to do all goody goody about them. But this lovely looking, crazily quoted, awesomely dyed in fantastic shade of green tee would have been stupendous, had it not had neck puckering quality issue & to top it print started cracking after one wash.

This 100% cotton, 160 gsm, single jersey, chest printed Tee has a nice fit for broad people also, but only if you go for one size larger than the one you generally wear. The depth of green is awesome & is a rare green tone commercially available in Indian Tee market. Originaly termed as 'slim fit', it is shaped to give you athletic feel. Nike has brought it up as a Fresh collection in these discounting days. Rs. 695/- is a decent pricing for a sexy rebellious quoted Tee with a swoosh sign. Out of stock in all Mumbai stores, this T shirt is nearly a riot & has definitely pulled people's glare...

It lacks in quality standards, T Shirt stability can not sustain more than 5-7 washes. Still because of depth of the colour & the nice bold chest printed quote with Swoosh, I term it as a must buy for those who love Message Tees.
